exhibit; the show is on view through Feb. 16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While the movies have long boasted a shimmery nickname \u2014 &#8220;the silver screen&#8221; is still used to describe cinema in an especially sparkly sense \u2014 there has been plenty of gold to add glitter to storylines, character arcs, and various scenic settings.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes that gold appears in a sort of mythical or cultural sense, and sometimes as actual, physical gold, but whatever its role, the audience is often captivated.<\/p>\n<p>To honor gold&#8217;s hold on our imaginations, and to offer a big-screen journey that complements its current gold-inspired exhibition, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nortonsimon.org\/calendar\/films-and-performances\/film-series-all-that-glitters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Norton Simon Museum<\/a> in Pasadena will present four films that feature, or have been inspired by, the alluring metal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nortonsimon.org\/calendar\/films-and-performances\/film-series-all-that-glitters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All That Glitters<\/a> kicks off Jan. 9 with &#8220;The Gold Rush,&#8221; the silent classic starring Charlie Chaplin and his merry and moving misadventures in the Klondike.<\/p>\n<p>The following three Fridays will all be centered around golden works of cinematic art, with &#8220;Dawson City: Frozen in Time,&#8221; &#8220;The Hidden Fortress,&#8221; and &#8220;Aguirre, the Wrath of God.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Each film begins at 4:30 p.m. and is included with museum admission.<\/p>\n<p>Your admission also provides entry to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nortonsimon.org\/exhibitions\/2020-2029\/gold-enduring-power-sacred-craft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Gold: Enduring Power, Sacred Craft&#8221;<\/a> exhibition, which examines &#8220;&#8230;
