SAN ANTONIO – A neighborhood just north of Downtown is set to become a lot more colorful in the wake of a new state initiative. <\/p>\n

On Tuesday, it was announced that San Antonio is set to replace its rainbow crosswalks near downtown with rainbow sidewalks, following Gov. Greg Abbott’s directive to remove “any and all political ideologies” from Texas streets. <\/p>\n

City crews began preparations today on North Main near Laurel, power washing the area in anticipation of the new installation. <\/p>\n

The city aims to maintain a colorful visual identity for the LGBTQ-plus community while adhering to the governor’s order. <\/p>\n

Joshua Sanchez, a nearby resident, expressed support for the project, saying, “It definitely sparks some kind of freedom, kind of like a joy… it gives the people a freedom to say something like we got something and they can’t take it from us.” <\/p>\n
