{"id":498265,"date":"2026-01-07T06:12:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T06:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/498265\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T06:12:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T06:12:10","slug":"bear-scare-in-rural-sand-springs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/498265\/","title":{"rendered":"Bear scare in rural Sand Springs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            SAND SPRINGS, Okla. &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Residents in <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newson6.com\/entity\/sand-springs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sand Springs<\/a> feared a possible bear sighting after a social media photo showed an animal that some say resembled a bear.<\/p>\n<p><b>Where and When<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The social media post featured a photo with the stamp date of December 30, 2025, and also the message \u201cAs if 2025 could not get any more wild.\u201d The original poster told News On 6 that it was from the family\u2019s deer cam, located off <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newson6.com\/entity\/west\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West<\/a> 41st Street, near Discovery Land. She thought it might be a bear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t mean to stir anything up\u2026 just thought it was neat that we had a bear on the property in our town. We know bears are in <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newson6.com\/entity\/oklahoma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oklahoma<\/a>, just not commonly seen this far west,\u201d wrote the poster.<\/p>\n<p><b>Neighbors Have Concerns<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Even though most properties are located near wooded areas, the idea of a bear was still far-fetched and a surprise to most, including Tammy Taylor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would probably be a big surprise. We have never seen a bear out here. I\u2019ve never even heard of a bear being out here,\u201d said Taylor, who has lived in the area known as <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newson6.com\/entity\/prattville\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prattville<\/a> for about 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>Susanna Kramer has lived in the area for nearly 30 years, and she also thought it was a bear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looks like a bear to me. I don\u2019t\u2014I couldn\u2019t tell you what color it is,\u201d said Kramer, who says she has been more worried about packs of dogs than bears.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have a lot of police cars. We don\u2019t have a lot of, you know, any of that out here. So I\u2019m not concerned about it until I see him walking around my back deck or up in here, then I\u2019ll get concerned,\u201d said Kramer<\/p>\n<p><b>Department of Wildlife Conservation Weighs In<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newson6.com\/entity\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> On 6 reached out to Matt Hensley of the Department of Wildlife Conservation.
