{"id":498279,"date":"2026-01-07T06:27:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T06:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/498279\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T06:27:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T06:27:09","slug":"govt-to-invest-millions-in-bid-to-attract-tourists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/498279\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt to invest millions in bid to attract tourists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A renewed focus on attracting tourists to Ireland from India, the UAE and the Asia-Pacific region will receive millions of euro in Government funding under a plan set to be announced today.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke will set out his department&#8217;s \u20ac4.7 billion capital investment strategy for the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>The expenditure is part of the Government&#8217;s National Development Plan<\/p>\n<p>A new era beckons for Irish tourism according to plans for the sector which will be published later.<\/p>\n<p>It will be underpinned by new direct flights from several countries including Canada, the US, India and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n<p>More than \u20ac77m will be made available to promote the country overseas especially in regions which may have been ignored in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected the allocations will include \u20ac1.1bn to support home-grown enterprises, \u20ac400m for the tourism industry and \u20ac100m for large-scale sites for the development of the next generation of computer chips and pharmaceutical manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>A new initiative called &#8216;Start up Ireland&#8217; to support Irish companies seeking to become global brands, will be established.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be \u20ac300m to aid firms to decarbonise, while \u20ac190m will be made available to quicken the adoption of AI technology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A renewed focus on attracting tourists to Ireland from India, the UAE and the Asia-Pacific region will receive&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":498280,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[12],"tags":[64,79,67,132,68],"class_list":{"0":"post-498279","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-economy","8":"tag-business","9":"tag-economy","10":"tag-united-states","11":"tag-unitedstates","12":"tag-us"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@us\/115852400699288969","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/498279","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=498279"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/498279\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/498280"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=498279"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=498279"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=498279"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
