{"id":498869,"date":"2026-01-07T12:11:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T12:11:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/498869\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T12:11:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T12:11:10","slug":"auckland-classic-francesca-jones-battles-injury-in-comeback-win-over-sinja-kraus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/498869\/","title":{"rendered":"Auckland Classic: Francesca Jones battles injury in comeback win over Sinja Kraus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">British number three Jones broke into the top 100 last year, having won two WTA 125 titles &#8211; the rung below the main tour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She was previously told by doctors she would not play tennis professionally, having been born with a rare genetic condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Jones has Ectrodactyly Ectodermal Dysplasia (EEC), which means she has three fingers and a thumb on each hand, three toes on her right foot and four toes on her left.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Jones struggled with the hot conditions in Auckland but battled back well, saving nine of the 13 break points she faced to advance in just over two hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;She was unplayable the first set and a half and I found it really tough to get used to playing in the day compared to the night.
