{"id":49960,"date":"2025-07-08T23:42:15","date_gmt":"2025-07-08T23:42:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/49960\/"},"modified":"2025-07-08T23:42:15","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T23:42:15","slug":"cleveland-kosher-food-pantry-receives-new-truck-local-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/49960\/","title":{"rendered":"Cleveland Kosher Food Pantry receives new truck | Local News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/kosherfp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cleveland Kosher Food Pantry<\/a> received a new food truck from the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, which is being called \u201ctransformative,\u201d according to Muriel Weber, Cleveland Kosher Food Pantry board chair. A ceremony to receive the truck was held June 30 at the food pantry\u2019s new location at 4090 Mayfield Road in South Euclid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truck is a demonstration of our tremendous partnership with the GCFB,\u201d Weber told the Cleveland Jewish News. \u201cThe Cleveland Kosher Food Pantry will be able to expand its service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Cleveland Kosher Food Pantry previously owned one truck and plans to replace it with the new, refrigerated vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know we are nothing without our partners,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greaterclevelandfoodbank.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Greater Cleveland Food Bank<\/a> President and CEO Kristin Warzocha said at the event. \u201cThis is the first truck like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Warzocha gave opening remarks, which were then followed by state Rep. Eric Synenburg from Beachwood and state Sen. Kent Smith from Euclid. They spoke about the American Rescue Plan Act funding which allowed the donation to occur.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Yaffe Alevsky, executive director of the Cleveland Kosher Food Pantry and Weber expressed appreciation and then concluded the event with a key handoff to celebrate the new truck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership is incredible, this truck is great, it allows more deliveries throughout the community\u201d Synenberg said at the event. \u201cThe need for food and food security is so great in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Synenberg presented Alevsky with a congratulatory commendation.<\/p>\n<p>When referring to food security, state Sen. Kent Smith of Euclid said at the event, \u201cThe need is great\u201d and there is \u201ca crisis of affordability and a crisis of opportunity\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Local residents visit the Cleveland Kosher Food Pantry every Wednesdays and Thursdays to pick up food. The food pantry has drive-throughs two times a week, and also offers home distribution to seniors and low-income housing.<\/p>\n<p>The food pantry serves about 6,000 people every month, Alevsky and Weber said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis truck is exciting because it\u2019s going to be ours, we\u2019re gonna be able to use it, its refrigerated, its bigger and it allows us to continue to serve our people\u201d Alevsky told the CJN. \u201cWe\u2019re not only receiving a vehicle, but are extending our ability to serve. The Greater Cleveland Food Bank is much more than just a source of food for use.
