PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 Three people were injured in a fire early Wednesday morning in South Philadelphia, including one neighbor who went into the burning building to help those trapped inside.<\/p>\n
The fire broke out around 7 a.m. in a building attached to a church at 26th and Tasker streets. Firefighters arrived and found a heavy blaze burning on the second floor.<\/p>\n
Daniel McCarty, executive chief of the Philadelphia Fire Department, said they rescued two people who were trapped inside.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was one elderly male, and he was transported in critical condition to area hospitals. And then we also had a second patient that we assisted and got out of the dwelling. They were transported in stable condition to area hospitals; an adult female,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
A third person sustained smoke inhalation after running into the building to try to save the two others.<\/p>\n
Dispatchers put out an all-hands call to battle the fire. Officials said about 85 firefighters from nearly 30 fire companies responded.<\/p>\n
