If you\u2019ve updated to Android 16 and noticed that your Google Pixel device is slower to wake up or get past the lockscreen, you\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n
The initial Android 16 release for Google Pixel devices doesn\u2019t really feel any different from Android 15, but there are some changes under the hood in preparation for the future. The update is, overall, pretty stable, but some Google Pixel owners have found an issue.<\/p>\n
On the stable Android 16 release, some are reporting that their Google Pixel\u2019s display is slow to wake up and get to the lockscreen following this latest update. The issue, reported across multiple threads <\/a>on <\/a>Google\u2019s <\/a>forums <\/a>and <\/a>Reddit<\/a>, leaves the device either slow to wake up when the screen is tapped, when the power button is pressed, or both. When the screen does finally come to life, the lockscreen lags a bit when going through to the rest of Android.<\/p>\n For obvious reasons, that\u2019s a bit frustrating.<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n Notably, my own Pixel 9 Pro Fold experiences this on the Android 16 QPR1 beta release, but users are reporting this on the stable Android 16 update.<\/p>\n Some users say that a reboot temporarily fixes the problem, but it seems to be persistent. <\/p>\n Update: <\/strong>Speaking to 9to5Google, Google says that a fix for this issue has starting rolling out as of July 8. The update is automatic, presumably meaning server-side.<\/p>\n A fix for this issue has begun rolling out today.
