12News spoke with the father and grandmother of 4-year-old Qahsiem Sinclair, who was shot in the face outside a townhome in Phoenix.<\/p>\n
PHOENIX \u2014 A four-year-old boy who was shot in the face in Phoenix is expected to be okay, but the suspect remains at large.<\/p>\n
RELATED: Toddler wounded in Phoenix shooting<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n 12News spoke with both 4-year-old Qahsiem Sinclair\u2019s father and grandmother.<\/p>\n They claim the motive behind the shooting is jealousy, and they want the suspects brought to justice as fast as possible.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s doing good,\u201d said Meishaq Sinclair, Qahsiem\u2019s father. \u201cHe\u2019s still in shock. He really\u2026 don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on too much\u2026 but taking it day by day.\u201d<\/p>\n Sinclair\u2019s father shared photos with us and said it\u2019s amazing he survived after getting shot in the face Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s still early, still fresh, so\u2026 you know, it\u2019s tragic,\u201d he said. \u201cIt sucks, but I\u2019m just glad my son is still here.\u201d<\/p>\n And now, after undergoing surgery at Valleywise Health, he\u2019s recovering.<\/p>\n \u201cHe can\u2019t talk… he\u2019s missing teeth\u2026 yeah\u2026 shot my son\u2019s teeth, so he can\u2019t really communicate, but he\u2019s trying to,\u201d said Sinclair.<\/p>\n The boy\u2019s father and grandmother spoke with 12News outside the ER.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think he understands what happened,\u201d said Laresha Mason, Qahsiem\u2019s grandmother. \u201cHe knows that he got shot, and of course, he says that he got shot, but I don\u2019t think he understands the magnitude of everything.\u201d<\/p>\n Surveillance video shows a person with a gun standing outside one of the homes near 29th Street and Wier Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, and then you hear what sounds like a gunshot.<\/p>\n The video then shows the person getting into a car and leaving.<\/p>\n The 4-year-old\u2019s father said he believes the woman who fired that shot showed up armed, after threatening his brother, but instead, his son came to the door hoping to go outside to scooter and suffered the unthinkable.<\/p>\n \u201cIt happened to be my son right there, about to leave out the house with his scooter and she still did what she did. She seen the kid right there and she still decided to do what she did,\u201d said Sinclair.<\/p>\n His son was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n \u201cWe need justice for Qahsiem as soon as possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n And until then, they will continue to comfort him.<\/p>\n \u201cI just tell him you\u2019re going to be okay, you\u2019re strong,\u201d he said. \u201cEvery day he says he\u2019s strong, \u2018look at my muscles,\u2019 he kisses his muscles, and so, I just remind him\u2026 You are strong, you\u2019re still here for a reason, like he\u2019s gifted, that\u2019s my baby, he\u2019s going to be alright.\u201d<\/p>\n At this time, police are still searching for suspects. Police have not disclosed how many individuals they are looking for.<\/p>\n Investigators initially thought the incident stemmed from domestic violence, but they are now saying that may not be the case.<\/p>\n Police are aware of a video related to the incident that was posted online.<\/p>\n If you have any information, you’re asked to call the police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.<\/p>\n The family is hoping to raise money to help with medical expenses.
