PHOENIX \u2014 An arrest was made in connection with the shooting of a Phoenix toddler, the city’s police department said.<\/p>\n
RELATED: Toddler wounded in Phoenix shooting<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Officers were called to the area of 32nd Street and Broadway Road around 12:19 p.m. Tuesday for reports of unknown trouble, the Phoenix Police Department said.\u00a0<\/p>\n When officers arrived on the scene, they located a toddler with gunshot wounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n The toddler was taken to the hospital, and the injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.\u00a0<\/p>\n Police said 29-year-old Joanna Chalup Cortez was identified as the suspect, and she surrendered on Jan. 7.<\/p>\n Chalup Cortez was arrested and is facing several charges, including aggravated assault and discharging a firearm at a residence.<\/p>\n Police said they do not believe there are any additional suspects in the shooting, but the case remains active.<\/p>\n
