By Ashley Rubin\/SanDiegoGulls.com\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The San Diego Gulls fell just short of the San Jose Barracuda in a shootout loss tonight at Pechanga Arena San Diego,\u00a03-2.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The game was\u00a0close\u00a0throughout but was\u00a0kept alive as\u00a0Matthew Phillips<\/strong>\u00a0buried\u00a0the game-tying goal\u00a0off a rebound\u00a0with only\u00a054 seconds\u00a0remaining\u00a0in the third period. San Jose had taken\u00a0a short-lived\u00a0lead\u00a0just\u00a0about five\u00a0minutes prior.\u00a0Gulls captain\u00a0Ryan Carpenter<\/strong>\u00a0picked up an assist which\u00a0extended his point streak to 2-4=6\u00a0in five games while\u00a0Tristan Luneau<\/strong>\u00a0logged his sixth assist and 10th\u00a0point of the season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Yegor Sidorov<\/strong>\u00a0ended a 14-game goal drought as he\u00a0broke a tie\u00a0early in the middle frame\u00a0with help from\u00a0Judd Caulfield<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Nathan Gaucher<\/strong>.
