In Bali, Indonesia, an underwater photographer spotted a particularly unusual example.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/diveivanov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yury Ivanov<\/a>\u00a0was on a night dive in Tulamben when he saw a peculiar creature scuttling towards him. It looked like a crab wearing an extravagant feathered hat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ivanov soon realised that it wasn\u2019t one animal, but two.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sea urchin crab (Dorippe frascone) is carrying the upside down jellyfish (Cassiopea andromeda) on [its] back to protect itself from predators,\u201d he says on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DOLoxcIk-18\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><video controls=\"\" poster=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2026\/01\/Crab-and-jellyfish-scaled.jpg\" preload=\"none\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2026\/01\/Crab-and-jellyfish-1.mp4\"\/>Watch: a sea urchin crab carries an upside down jellyfish in Bali.
