According to L\u2019Equipe, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lequipe.fr\/Football\/Actualites\/Tottenham-et-burnley-ont-repris-les-discussions-pour-le-defenseur-maxime-esteve\/1576499\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tottenham and Burnley have restarted negotiations over 23-year-old central defender Maxime Est\u00e8ve<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p id=\"0uLWyB\">That\u2019s right \u2014 MAXIMUM STEVE. BRING ME MAXIMUM STEVE!!<\/p>\n<p id=\"RG7Blv\">The report is short, and notes that <a href=\"https:\/\/cartilagefreecaptain.sbnation.com\/2025\/2\/3\/24358042\/report-spurs-make-24m-bid-for-burnleys-maxime-esteve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tottenham made a \u20ac24m approach for Est\u00e8ve back in January<\/a>. I remember this because it happened on transfer deadline day and, y\u2019know, MAXIMUM STEVE. You tend to remember things like that. I also remember that a Burnley beat writer almost immediately rubbished this. But now that report is getting new credence from L\u2019Equipe, so what is even reality? I don\u2019t know, and neither do you. We are through the looking glass, people!<\/p>\n<p id=\"Qw8lYA\">The difference between then and now is that Spurs now have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbnation.com\/champions-league\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Champions League<\/a> football, whereas in January they did not. All else is the same \u2014 Good ol\u2019 Steve is a young, French, ball-playing defender who can pass the crap out of the ball and has experience playing in a possession football system \u2014 first under Vincent Kompany and then RAF Captain Scott Parker. With Thomas Frank likely to deploy some flavor of possession ball at Spurs this season, that would make him an attractive target. He\u2019s also a left footed defender, and we need another one of those.<\/p>\n<p id=\"BSbcD5\">It doesn\u2019t say how much money, it doesn\u2019t say how far along the negotiations are. Just basic info, and MAXIMUM STEVE.
