\n\tThe Pitt<\/a> will stay open. HBO Max<\/a> has renewed the medical drama for a third season ahead of the launch of its sophomore season.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe news emerged at the season two premiere event in LA.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series, which was created by by R. Scott Gemmill, stars Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch and follows a group of healthcare workers at a hospital in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt also stars Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon, Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan, Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay, Taylor Dearden as Dr. King, Isa Briones as Dr. Santos, Gerran Howell as Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Javadi, and Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Al-Hashimi.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tDeadline revealed<\/a> last month that Rusty Schwimmer, Jayne Taini and Annabelle Toomey are set as recurring guest stars for season two, alongside Lawrence Robinson, Brittany Allen, Bonita\u00a0Friedericy, Taylor Handley\u00a0and Jeff Kober, Charles Baker, Irene Choi, La\u00ebtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson and Zack Morris.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeta Golding, Luke Tennie, Christopher Thornton and Travis Van Winkle\u00a0also joined<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, Tracy Ifeachor\u00a0will not return<\/a>\u00a0for Season 2 as Dr. Heather Collins.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Gemmill exec produces alongside Wyle, John Wells, Erin Jontow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan and Michael Hissrich.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Pitt launches its second season on Thursday January 8 at 9pm ET.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeason 2 will pick up 10 months after the final hour of Season 1, which concluded April 10. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill hinted that\u00a0Season 2 will take place over Fourth of July weekend<\/a>\u00a0during a day-long shift, which will likely see all kinds of ER patients.<\/p>\n

\n\tGemmill also teased that Wyle\u2019s character Dr. \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch\u00a0will acknowledge that he needs help<\/a>\u00a0regarding his mental health in Season 2. A main thread in Season 1 was Robby\u2019s inability to cope with his mentor\u2019s death during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Sunday, Wyle won Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Critics Choice Awards.<\/a><\/p>\n
