From the NYS Homes and Community Renewal, <\/p>\n

Bolivar, Allegany County, a community with a rich past as the U.S.\u2019s most northeastern oil producer during the 19th century, is poised for a significant infrastructure improvement thanks to a $2 million award in 2024 from the NYS Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. <\/p>\n

Administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal\u2019s Office of Community Renewal, this funding will facilitate the much-needed replacement of water and sewer lines on Olive Street, directly impacting future development and the quality of life for the village\u2019s approximately 950 residents. <\/p>\n

This investment underscores Governor Kathy Hochul\u2019s commitment to upgrading public water supplies and sewer treatment systems in small municipalities, with the NYS CDBG program allocating over $100 million since 2022 to address critical infrastructure needs for low-to-moderate income residents statewide. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor a village of this size, that amount of money and this type of grant is huge to us,\u201d said Bolivar Treasurer and Clerk Stephanie MacDonell. \u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for this, we wouldn\u2019t have a prayer of getting this completed.\u201d<\/p>\n
