\n\tVisit Films<\/a> has acquired worldwide sales rights to U.S film \u201cThe Gymnast,\u201d which will have its world premiere in the Tiger Competition at the International Film Festival Rotterdam<\/a>. The film will also screen next month at the European Film Market in Berlin.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Gymnast,\u201d which was written and directed by Charlotte Glynn<\/a>, follows a 16-year-old elite gymnast and her single father, a die-hard \u201cgym dad,\u201d in a former mill-town devastated by the loss of industry, as they fight to reinvent themselves after a potentially career-ending injury.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film stars Ethan Embry (\u201cGrace and Frankie,\u201d \u201cChristy,\u201d upcoming in \u201cScream 7,\u201d \u201cBy Any Means\u201d), Britney Wheeler, Margarita Levieva (HBO\u2019s \u201cTask,\u201d \u201cDaredevil: Born Again\u201d) and Will River (\u201cSon of the South\u201d). It is produced by Ricky Tollman (\u201cRun This Town\u201d) and Luke Spears (\u201cChild Eater\u201d). Executive producers include Randy Manis (\u201cMargin Call,\u201d \u201cKill Your Darlings\u201d) and David Thion (\u201cIt Was Just an Accident,\u201d \u201cAnatomy of a Fall\u201d). Co-producers are Max Mooney (\u201cA Fresh Hell\u201d) and Ariella Naymark (\u201cNirvanna the Band the Show\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tGlynn was named one of the \u201c25 New Faces in Independent Film\u201d by Filmmaker Magazine and has been awarded residencies at Yaddo and the Berlinale Talents.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Gymnast\u201d previously participated in Sundance\u2019s Catalyst Program, IFP Week\u2019s Project Forum, Cine Qua Non Screenwriting Lab, U.S. & French Connection, and the Los Cabos International Film Festival Works in Progress market.<\/p>\n

\n\tGlynn said, \u201d \u2018The Gymnast\u2019 is a world and story that\u2019s been with me for a decade. Monica\u2019s story, the struggle of loss and reinvention, is at the heart of the film and is connected to the fire that\u2019s been keeping me going through these years of trying to get the film made.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVisit\u2019s president Ryan Kampe said, \u201cIt is so rare to find a film with such universal themes.
