After calling for NASCAR<\/a> to end its Chicago Street Course event as recently as last week, Kevin Harvick seems to have changed his tone on the Grant Park 165.<\/p>\n

Following Sunday’s race (which was won once again by Shane van Gisbergen) the NASCAR legend<\/a> came out and praised stock racing’s governing body for introducing the street race three years ago.<\/p>\n

“The thing that I love about Chicago\u2014 all three years its felt like [fans] are so engaged in what’s going on,” Harvick said<\/a> on his “Happy Hour” podcast. Adding that it’s “One of the best events that NASCAR has ever decided to do because of the fact that they stepped out on a limb, we went street racing and its entertaining to watch.”<\/p>\n

“… I think its just one of the greatest events that they’ve created lately and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.”<\/p>\n

Fans reacted to the former Cup Series champion’s take on X.<\/p>\n

“I [really] don’t agree,” a user said.<\/p>\n

“\ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23this was the worst race of the year by far,” another replied.<\/p>\n

“I bet if he was driving and was involved in the Hocevar incident he’d say it was horrible and would bash nascar all day,” a fan commented.<\/p>\n

“Of course Harvick the guy with the worst opinions would say Nascar did good with this. Exactly why most people shouldn’t have a podcast,” another person posted. “This track Sucks the layout Suck the racing is terrible. Its just a [expletive]show.”<\/p>\n

NASCAR’s street event is certainly a bit polarizing among certain pockets of its audience. But Harvick seems to be onboard with the sport continuing its annual race in the Windy City.<\/p>\n
