PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Valley drivers can expect some delays along sections of Interstate 10 and Loop 101 this weekend as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues freeway improvement projects.<\/p>\n

Near downtown Phoenix, the eastbound lanes of I-10 will be closed between the I-17 and State Route 51 from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday for scheduled tunnel maintenance. To avoid this closure, drivers can detour on southbound I-17 and reconnect with I-10 near Sky Harbor Airport.<\/p>\n

The westbound lanes of I-10 will also be closed for scheduled tunnel maintenance between I-17 near Sky Harbor Airport and 7th Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

\"AA limited number of closures are scheduled for freeway improvement projects in the Phoenix area this weekend (Jan. 9-12), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. They include mostly overnight closures of Interstate 10 in the downtown Phoenix area for scheduled tunnel cleaning and maintenance.(ADOT)<\/p>\n

Drivers on State Route 51 will also need to consider taking a different route if they try to get on westbound I-10, as the on-ramp will be closed as well. <\/p>\n

The westbound Loop 202 ramp to westbound I-10 will be open, but drivers must exit at 7th Street.<\/p>\n

The southbound I-17 ramp to westbound I-10 near Sky Harbor will be closed. To get around this, drivers can detour on northbound I-17 and reconnect with the I-10 at the Stack interchange north of Van Buren Street. <\/p>\n

Drivers in the southeast Valley\/Chandler area can consider using westbound\/northbound Loop 202 to reach the I-10 near 59th Avenue.<\/p>\n

Finally, the eastbound Loop 101 ramp to southbound SR 51 will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday for a widening project. The southbound Black Mountain Boulevard ramp to southbound SR 51 will also be closed. <\/p>\n

To detour, drivers should consider exiting eastbound Loop 101 at Cave Creek Road or Tatum Boulevard and using Union Hills Drive to access southbound SR 51. <\/p>\n

Drivers who would normally use the Black Mountain Boulevard ramp to SR 51 can consider using southbound Tatum Boulevard to westbound Union Hills Drive.<\/p>\n
