Various Google services on top of the mobile operating system make up the modern Android experience. Google is now adding a new \u2018System services\u2019 settings page to manage all the background services installed on your Android device and more easily update them. <\/p>\n

This new \u201cSystem services\u201d page will list all the services\/applications (with most not having user interfaces) from Google that help keep your phone or tablet running. Improve user transparency and centralizing management (instead of having to search Settings > Apps), this includes:<\/p>\n

Google system services give you useful features that make your Android devices more secure and reliable.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Google provides monthly release notes<\/a> for these updates. The new System services list is split into<\/a> Available updates, Not installed, and Up to date. For the most part, they update automatically in the background, but previously you had to visit the Play Store listing to immediately install the latest version. Google notes how turning off<\/a> system services \u201cmay impact your device\u2019s performance.\u201d<\/p>\n

This page also notes if you\u2019re part of the Google system services beta<\/a>. In September, Google made it so that signing up for the Play services beta (via the Play Store) gets you early access to all Google system services as they\u2019re available.<\/p>\n

The new \u201cSystem services\u201d page will be available on Android 6+ and is rolling out now, with those in the aforementioned beta getting it first.\u00a0Once available, find the page in the Settings app > tap your profile (top card on Android 16) > All services tab > Privacy & security setting > System services.<\/p>\n
