{"id":503454,"date":"2026-01-09T09:52:34","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T09:52:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/503454\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T09:52:34","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T09:52:34","slug":"exclusive-renee-nicole-good-was-minneapolis-ice-watch-warrior-who-trained-to-resist-feds-before-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/503454\/","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive | Renee Nicole Good was Minneapolis &#8216;ICE Watch&#8217; &#8216;warrior&#8217; who trained to resist feds before shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MINNEAPOLIS \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/08\/us-news\/who-is-renee-nicole-good-minneapolis-woman-killed-by-ice-agent\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Renee Nicole Good<\/a>, the mom who was killed by a federal agent after veering her car toward him, was an anti-ICE \u201cwarrior\u201d and was part of a group of activists who worked to \u201cdocument and resist\u201d the federal immigration crackdown in Minnesota, The Post can reveal.<\/p>\n<p>Good, who moved to the city last year, linked up with the anti-ICE activists through her 6-year-old son\u2019s woke charter school, which boasts that it puts \u201csocial justice first\u201d and prioritizes \u201cinvolving kids in political and social activism,\u201d multiple local sources said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was a warrior. She died doing what was right,\u201d a mother named Leesa, whose child attends the same school, told The Post at a growing vigil where Good was killed Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Rennee Nicole Good (right) was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. I watched the video plenty of times but I also know in my heart the woman she was, she was doing everything right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Good and her wife Rebecca, 40, were raising the boy together\u00a0in the mostly working-class, activist-heavy neighborhood of south Minneapolis, which features tree-lined streets and a large number of homes with windows decked out in LGBTQ+ flags or signs depicting George Floyd.<\/p>\n<p>Just as many others did in the lefty enclave, Good sent her son\u00a0to Southside Family Charter School, a K-5 academy opened in 1972 which has from its inception been \u201cunabashedly dedicated to social justice education,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/southsidepride.com\/2025\/03\/04\/southside-family-charter-school-embraces-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to co-founder Susie Oppenheim.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was through her involvement in the school community that Good became involved in \u201cICE Watch\u201d \u2014 a loose coalition of activists dedicated to disrupting ICE raids in the sanctuary city.<\/p>\n<p>The agent opened fire on Good in her Honda Pilot after she started driving towards him in Minneapolis on Jan. 7, 2026. X\/@maxnesterak<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom my understanding, she was involved in social justice \u2026 we are a tight-knit community and a lot of parents are [activists],\u201d former Southside gym teacher Rashad Rich, who resigned from the school last month, told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>He said current event topics like the killing of George Floyd were regular parts of the curriculum, and that last month students took a field trip where they learned about \u201caboriginal issues\u201d \u2014 a reference to the indigenous people of far-away Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Good was involved with a local \u201cICE Watch\u201d in Minneapolis. Instagram\/mnicewatch<\/p>\n<p>Similar coalitions to ICE Watch have cropped up all over the country \u2014 with activists using phone apps, whistles and car horns to warn neighborhoods when ICE shows up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ICE Watch and adjacent groups can also turn confrontational \u2014 with numerous instances of activists ramming agents with their cars in the past.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/07\/us-news\/minneapolis-ice-shooting-live-updates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Follow The Post\u2019s live coverage on the Minneapolis ICE agent shooting<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Renee Good] was trained against these ICE agents \u2014 what to do, what not to do, it\u2019s a very thorough training,\u201d Leesa said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo listen to commands, to know your rights, to whistle when you see an ICE agent,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Good got involved with local anti-ICE activists through her 6-year-old child\u2019s charter school. Facebook\/ODU English Department<\/p>\n<p>The group started out as a very loose confederation of anti-ICE activists, but has recently aligned itself with more radical organizations including Twin Cities Ungovernables.<\/p>\n<p>Blood seen on the airbag of Good\u2019s car. AP<\/p>\n<p>ICE Watch recently shared an Instagram post of the group\u2019s which encouraged agitators to bring items that would help them barricade the streets around where the shooting took place, even urging people to bring things to burn, such as dried-up Christmas trees.<\/p>\n<p>This call for aggressive and even violent resistance comes as ICE agents have faced an unprecedented spike in car attacks, surging by some 3,200% over the last year, shocking data released by the Department of Homeland Security revealed to The Post.<\/p>\n<p>Federal officials said violent \u201cradical rhetoric from sanctuary politicians\u201d is to blame for vehicular attacks against ICE agents skyrocketing between Jan. 21, 2025, and Jan. 7, 2026 \u2014 66 attacks were recorded during that time period compared to just two the year before.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Good near the scene of the shooting. Reuters<\/p>\n<p>In October, US Border Patrol agents shot an armed woman in Chicago who attempted to run over agents with her car after a group of activists \u201cboxed in\u201d agents with 10 cars.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, a federal judge dropped the charges against the woman,\u00a0Marimar Martinez, who survived the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>Good, a stay-at-home 37-year-old mother of three who dabbled in poetry, was shot in the head and killed as she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/07\/us-news\/video-shows-ice-agent-shoot-woman-in-minneapolis-who-tried-to-hit-officer-with-car-dhs-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sped her SUV in the direction of two immigration officers<\/a>\u00a0who were conducting an enforcement operation just south of the city\u2019s central business district.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the latest on the Minneapolis ICE agent shooting:<\/p>\n<p>DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the shooting, which remains under investigation, was an act of self-defense and that the Goods had been\u00a0\u201cstalking and harassing\u201d\u00a0ICE agents in Minneapolis throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>County worker Kristin Peter, 30, who was also at the vigil, said Good was on the same ICE Watch team as one of her coworkers, and that she herself was attending a meeting of the group Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>A federal agent spraying activists with pepper spray near the scene of where Good was killed. AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were on the same team, they would eat meals together,\u201d she said as she waved a lit bundle of sage at the memorial site.<\/p>\n<p>School friend Leesa said a lot of families associated with the school live in the area where Good was killed.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the streets of the neighborhood were lined with heart-shaped signs featuring quotes by Assata Shakur, a radical black liberation activist who fled to Cuba in the 1970s after being convicted of murdering a cop.<\/p>\n<p>Renee and Rebecca Good had only recently moved to Minnesota after briefly living in Canada. Instagram\/Rebecca Good<\/p>\n<p>Floyd was killed in 2020 less than a mile away from Wednesday\u2019s ICE shooting.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Southside Family Charter School\u2019s website, it provides \u201can academically challenging, socially conscious education to diverse learners,\u201d and declares it\u2019s \u201cproud\u201d to offer what it calls a \u201csocial justice curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A photo from its Facebook page shows a dry-erase board of students\u2019 \u201chopes and dreams\u201d for the future, which include \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s heart grows 3x as big.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Goods had no love lost for President Trump themselves, leaving their Kansas City, Missouri, neighborhood for Canada after the 2024 election with plans to leave the country for good.<\/p>\n<p>They lived in the Great White North for a few months before settling in Minneapolis,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmbc.com\/article\/woman-killed-minneapolis-ice-shooting-kansas-city-ties\/69940624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a former neighbor told KMBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca, who was confronting ICE agents outside of the SUV at the time of the shooting, was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/08\/us-news\/renee-nicole-goods-sobbing-wife-who-claimed-minneapolis-ice-shooting-was-my-fault-revealed\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">filmed sobbing \u201cit\u2019s my fault\u201d after the shots rang out\u00a0<\/a>and she realized Renee had been struck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made her come down here, it\u2019s my fault,\u201d she said, her face covered in blood after rushing to her partner\u2019s aid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey shot her in the head.
