A Scottsdale bar that encourages patrons to cover its walls with signed dollar bills made the Phoenix Children\u2019s Foundation\u2019s holiday happy.<\/p>\n
The thousands of signed dollar bills covering the walls of the Rusty Spur Saloon were peeled offer and turned into a $7,000 donation to the nonprofit, continuing a tradition that a spokeswoman said \u201chas grown steadily each year.\u201d<\/p>\n
The annual collection, powered by customers and staff at the Old Town landmark, benefits the foundation\u2019s Hope Fund, which supports innovative treatments, advanced equipment and family-centered care.<\/p>\n
The country western bar on Main Street is known for its cash-lined walls, a tradition that began decades ago. The bar\u2019s owners donate the loot every December to the Phoenix Children\u2019s Foundation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese dollar bills symbolize not only the memories made here but also the potential to make a difference in our community,\u201d said Janeth Moore, operations manager at Rusty Spur, Scottsdale\u2019s oldest bar.<\/p>\n
She noted that the 2025 donation was $1,000 higher than 2024, \u201creflecting the growing generosity of the Rusty Spur community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The donation will support more than 170 essential programs dedicated to providing world-class care for children facing illnesses and injuries.<\/p>\n
The Hope Fund enables the hospital to invest in cutting-edge technology, launch new clinical programs and sustain initiatives that prioritize family-centered care.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are deeply grateful to Rusty Spur Saloon and their customers for their continued commitment to Phoenix Children\u2019s,\u201d said Jordan Olstead, corporate development officer for the foundation. \u201cTheir generosity helps fund critical programs and brings hope and healing to the patients and families we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Rusty Spur Saloon has been a cornerstone of downtown Scottsdale since 1951, operating in a building that dates back to 1921, when it served as the Farmer\u2019s State Bank of Scottsdale.<\/p>\n
The building retains its historical charm, including its original bank vault, now repurposed as a refrigerated storage unit for beverages.<\/p>\n
Known for its authentic Southwestern vibe, the Rusty Spur offers cold beer, prickly pear margaritas, and live country music daily, attracting both locals and visitors from around the world.<\/p>\n
