The attorney general argued the program violated state law and took legal action to stop it.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Texas respects the sanctity of unborn life, and I will always do everything in my power to prevent radicals from manipulating the system to murder innocent babies,\u201d Paxton said in a statement. \u201cIt is illegal for cities to fund abortion tourism with taxpayer funds.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/ken-paxton-sues-san-antonio-over-100k-fund-for-out-of-state-abortion-services-travel-reproductive-health-women-babies-families#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ken Paxton sues San Antonio over $100K fund for out-of-state abortion services<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to Paxton\u2019s office, the city\u2019s decision follows both the attorney general\u2019s legal challenge and the passage of Senate Bill 33, which bans the use of taxpayer money for abortion-related activities, including assistance for travel.<\/p>\n<p>San Antonio previously created a $100,000 Reproductive Justice Fund that included coverage for out-of-state abortion travel.
