Bay St. on Jan. 9 for $2.5 million.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p2\" class=\"permalinkable\">The four-story, 20,000-square-foot building is the home of the recently opened Keane\u2019s Tavern, formerly Justice Pub.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p3\" class=\"permalinkable\">Known as the Hutchinson-Suddath Building, it had been owned by the Suddath family for 95 years.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p4\" class=\"permalinkable\">It was sold by Julia Suddath of Jacksonville and her daughters, Jessica Lee-Miller of Jacksonville and Joy Lee, of Decatur, Georgia, through Bay Street Warehousing LLC.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p5\" class=\"permalinkable\">In recent years, the upper stories had been leased as office space, Lee-Miller said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p6\" class=\"permalinkable\">\u201cCommercial space Downtown and the market has changed so much. Bay St. is shown around 1936.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p11\" class=\"permalinkable\">\u201cThe Suddath Building is a true piece of Jacksonville history, and that\u2019s something we don\u2019t take lightly,\u201d Rajta, Illyria Properties co-owner, said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p12\" class=\"permalinkable\">\u201cOur plan is to integrate the building\u2019s historic elements with modern upgrades, retaining the integrity and cultural value of the property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p13\" class=\"permalinkable\">The purchase of the Hutchinson-Suddath Building will allow the group to repurpose the upper floors. Bay St., is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p14\" class=\"permalinkable\">Plans call for the top two floors to be converted into apartments.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p15\" class=\"permalinkable\">The Hutchinson-Suddath Building was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRIS #07001029) on Oct. 3, 2007.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p16\" class=\"permalinkable\">Property records show it was built in 1907, but the release says it was constructed in 1910 as part of the Great Jacksonville Renaissance following the Great Fire of 1901.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h891413-p17\" class=\"permalinkable\">It represents one of the earliest examples of reinforced concrete construction in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Illyria Properties 8 LLC purchased the property at 315 E.
