An additional 21 units are designated for families earning up to 30% AMI. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Located off Culebra and Callaghan Roads, Sunstone is the seventh affordable housing development born out of the 2022 Affordable Housing Bond, the release said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Sunstone was part of a $43.7 million investment toward the West Side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThe opening of Sunstone reflects our city\u2019s commitment to inclusive development, ensuring that people benefit from housing designed to support well-being, stability and long-term opportunity,\u201d said Veronica Garcia, director of neighborhood and housing services, in the release. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The community provides a number of services and amenities, from after-school programs to outdoor recreation areas, sports fields and accessible walkways. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">As of June, the bond has committed just under $128 million of its $150 million allotment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThe role of government is to put its people first, and that means investing in housing our community with dignity,\u201d District 5 Councilmember Teri Castillo said in the release. \u201c(Sunstone) shows what\u2019s possible when we prioritize public good over private profit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><b>Read also:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/>\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p>Copyright 2025 by KSAT &#8211; All rights reserved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SAN ANTONIO \u2013 A new affordable housing community opened on Tuesday on the West Side.
