\n\tCharlie Brooker<\/a>\u2019s Black Mirror<\/a> is returning to Netflix<\/a> for an eighth season.<\/p>\n

\n\tBrooker is busy putting pen to paper on the next set of episodes of the dystopian anthology series, which is now one of the streamer\u2019s longest-running shows. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI can confirm that\u00a0Black Mirror\u00a0will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it,\u201d Brooker said. \u201cSo, that\u2019s exciting. That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBrooker said the coming season follows his traditional thought process of: \u201cWell, what haven\u2019t we done yet, and what tone am I looking for?\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s a useful thought experiment when approaching a new story,\u201d he added. \u201cWhere does this track come on the album, and what musical direction are we going to go into?\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tBrooker did not give anything away about who will star in the eighth season or what kind of tone he will look to strike. He previously defined the seventh season to Deadline<\/a> as more in keeping with older Black Mirror, while Season 6 was \u201c\u2018Red Mirror\u2019 in that we had more horror and less emphasis on tech-related storylines.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBrooker was speaking 48 hours before he heads to the Golden Globes<\/a>, where Black Mirror Season 7 is nominated for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, while Rashida Jones<\/a> and Paul Giamatti<\/a> both have nods in the limited series acting categories.<\/p>\n

\n\tLast season featured stories including \u201cCommon People\u201d with Jones and \u201cEulogy\u201d with Paul Giamatti, plus Black Mirror\u2019s first ever sequel to its hit \u201cUSS Callister\u201d episode. Soon after the show aired, Brooker and his Black Mirror co-creator Annabel Jones left their Netflix-owned production company Broke & Bones following the rundown of their five-year deal with the streamer.<\/p>\n

\n\tMore information on Black Mirror Season 8 will likely be incoming soon. The show has now been on TV for nearly 15 years, having started on Channel 4 before switching to Netflix after two seasons in 2016.<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere, Brooker is working on an untitled detective series<\/a> for Netflix starring Paddy Considine, Lena Headey and Georgina Campbell.
