{"id":504810,"date":"2026-01-09T23:25:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T23:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/504810\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T23:25:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T23:25:15","slug":"jacksonville-officer-involved-in-arrest-of-william-mcneil-jr-reprimanded-law-enforcement-authority-restored","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/504810\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacksonville officer involved in arrest of William McNeil Jr. reprimanded, law enforcement authority restored"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Jacksonville Sheriff&#8217;s Office says that the involved officer has received a &#8220;Written Reprimand Level 1.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 An officer involved in a viral traffic stop arrest has had his law enforcement authority restored, the Jacksonville Sheriff&#8217;s Office says.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2025,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstcoastnews.com\/article\/news\/crime\/jacksonville-officer-seen-on-viral-video-punching-man-during-traffic-stop-had-5-previous-complaints\/77-0be8a5bc-cfca-47f4-ae7a-c482d82d1650\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" id=\"isPasted\">\u00a0William McNeil Jr. was stopped by JSO officers.<\/a> Body camera video shows him being pulled from his car, pinned to the ground and arrested. The video went viral after showing an officer, Officer Donald Bowers, punching McNeil, sparking outrage in Jacksonville and throughout the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Later in August, the State Attorney&#8217;s Office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstcoastnews.com\/article\/news\/local\/distractionary-blow-florida-state-attorneys-office-investigative-memo-viral-jacksonville-arrest-william-mcneil-jr\/77-19a783f7-3f29-4f60-9f76-d7308808072a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">completed an investigation<\/a>, where they ruled that Officer Bowers&#8217; actions were &#8220;lawful&#8221; and that no charges would be filed.
