MOHNTON, Pa.\u00a0\u2013 The Friends of Berks County Public Libraries is once again hosting the Berks Book Bonanza<\/a>. It’s an opportunity to not just give back to the community but to also get lost in the realm of books.<\/p>\n

“People read; it’s ingrained in them from the time they’re very little,” said Judy Ellsworth, co-chair of Berks Book Bonanza.<\/p>\n

In Mohnton, you have the chance to do just that.<\/p>\n

“We’re just blown away with the amount of stuff that has been donated,” Ellsworth said.<\/p>\n

Whether it is ghost stories or Christmas books, there is something there for everyone to enjoy.<\/p>\n

“This year is that we have 150,000 items, which is more than ever before,” Ellsworth said.<\/p>\n

It’s all from donations that are organized all year long.<\/p>\n

“We couldn’t have the sale without the people in the county making donations, and they’ve come out of the woodwork and donated more puzzles than ever, more CDs than ever, more large print books than ever, mysteries, nonfiction. It’s everything,” Ellsworth said.<\/p>\n

All proceeds from sales will go toward the Berks County community.<\/p>\n

“Which are Berks County Public Libraries,” Ellsworth said.<\/p>\n

Proceeds go to the Friends of the Berks County Public Libraries and the Reading branch of the\u00a0American Association of University Women.<\/p>\n

“They give scholarships to women for higher education,” Ellsworth said.<\/p>\n

Readers can get books to enjoy on a nice summer day until Sunday at the County of Berks South Campus.<\/p>\n

“We have all our tables filled. We have boxes under the tables. We have full boxes in the storeroom to keep bringing out and filling in as things get sold,” Ellsworth said. “Come out; we have everything.”<\/p>\n

There are also volunteer opportunities.<\/p>\n

“We need sorters inside all year long,” Ellsworth said.<\/p>\n

Those volunteers make sure all the books on sale are in good condition.<\/p>\n

“Are they salable? Are they smoky? Are they water damaged?
