By Ashley Rubin\/SanDiegoGulls.com\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The San Diego Gulls took their first shootout victory tonight against the Pacific Division leading Colorado Eagles at Blue Arena, 5-4.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The Gulls once again\u00a0tied the game up in the final minute of regulation play\u00a0as\u00a0Justin Bailey<\/strong>\u00a0found the net with\u00a0just 26 seconds\u00a0remaining\u00a0in the final frame. After a scoreless overtime,\u00a0Judd Caulfield<\/strong>\u00a0was the only skater to score throughout the shootout taking the win for San Diego.\u00a0The win marks San Diego\u2019s first win at Colorado since\u00a0March 2,\u00a02022.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n “Well, there’s 60 minutes on the clock for\u00a0a\u00a0reason, so sometimes you have to use them all,”\u00a0head coach\u00a0Matt\u00a0McIlvane<\/strong>\u00a0said. “We’ve got\u00a0a lot of\u00a0resiliency\u00a0in our team.\u00a0We’re\u00a0very aware that\u00a0we’re\u00a0capable of mounting comebacks\u00a0and\u00a0pushing games into overtime.\u00a0We’ve done this multiple times throughout the course of the season.\u00a0You\u00a0don’t\u00a0want to be in that situation. You want to be in control of the game,\u00a0but the character that the guys showed to get to that point was excellent.”<\/p>\n It was a big night for\u00a0Nathan Gaucher<\/strong>\u00a0as he\u00a0logged\u00a0the\u00a0first multi-goal game of his AHL career. He started the game off hot as he netted\u00a0a shorthanded goal on a breakaway, putting the Gulls in the AHL-leading spot for shorthanded goals this season.\u00a0The goal also marked the first shorthanded goal scored against Colorado this season.\u00a0He logged his second\u00a0unassisted\u00a0goal in the third period,\u00a0minimizing Colorado\u2019s\u00a0lead\u00a0to one.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n “It\u00a0just felt good,”\u00a0Gaucher said. “It felt like our line played well. Set the tone in that third period by starting a period as well.\u00a0I think there’s a couple\u00a0cleanups\u00a0we should do as a team.\u00a0Don’t\u00a0give them as much speed and\u00a0odd man\u00a0rush, but\u00a0I think we\u00a0did\u00a0a good job\u00a0of coming back and ended up with a win.”\u00a0<\/p>\n Special teams played\u00a0a large role\u00a0tonight as\u00a0Nico\u00a0Myatovic<\/strong>\u00a0extended the Gulls\u00a0lead in the first\u00a0with a\u00a0power-play\u00a0goal with only 36 seconds\u00a0remaining\u00a0in the\u00a0first\u00a0period.\u00a0Nikolas Brouillard<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Bailey\u00a0picked up assists on the goal.\u00a0<\/p>\n Calle Clang<\/strong>\u00a0proved himself essential\u00a0between the pipes\u00a0once again.
