David Letterman<\/a> isn\u2019t having it with the gaggle of \u201cidiots\u201d now running the news division of his old TV home at CBS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Letterman, in a clip shared to his YouTube page on Friday<\/a>, declared that CBS News<\/a> is a \u201cwreck\u201d amid its recent rightward shift under parent company Paramount CEO (and Trump ally) David Ellison, as well as Bari Weiss, the conservative journalist picked to serve as the news division\u2019s editor-in-chief.<\/p>\n

Letterman pointed to the history of CBS News, particularly legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow\u2019s broadcasts from London<\/a> during the height of the Blitz in World War II.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was that mentality that drove the integrity of CBS News that has been trampled on, pissed on and eviscerated by these idiots that have taken it over,\u201d Letterman said.<\/p>\n

Letterman is among a number of former<\/a> CBS stars<\/a> who have criticized CBS News\u2019 conservative tilt in recent months.<\/p>\n

Back in July, he slammed CBS<\/a> over its shock decision to cancel the Stephen Colbert-led \u201cLate Show,\u201d a franchise he began over three decades ago.<\/p>\n

The cancellation was widely seen as the network caving to political pressure, as Paramount sought to complete a merger with Skydance Media, which required approval from the Trump administration. CBS has insisted that its move to end the \u201cLate Show\u201d was \u201cpurely a financial decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think one day, if not today, the people at CBS who have manipulated and handled this are going to be embarrassed because this is gutless,\u201d Letterman said at the time.<\/p>\n

Under its new conservative leader, CBS News has faced backlash for yanking a \u201c60 Minutes\u201d segment<\/a> critical of the Trump administration and whittling the 38-page handbook of principles at \u201cCBS Evening News\u201d down to \u201cfive simple values\u201d that guide the program, which includes its love for America<\/a>.<\/p>\n
