\n\tMickey Rourke<\/a> surrendered a shotgun to authorities this week, according to NBC4 Investigates<\/a>. The Los Angeles Sheriff\u2019s Department said deputies responded to a call Wednesday from one of the actor\u2019s team members, who said he wanted to turn in the firearm. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe agency said deputies spoke to Rourke and that the actor told them he would be leaving the area and no longer wanted the firearm, which was legally registered to him, and that it would be held by authorities for safekeeping, per the outlet. NBC4 added that the gun will be destroyed if Rourke does not retrieve it after a year.<\/p>\n

\n\tA representative for Rourke did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe news arrives amid a fundraising fiasco involving Rourke and his manager. Back in December,\u00a0The Wrestler\u00a0actor was\u00a0sued by his landlord<\/a>, who alleged that Rourke owed nearly $60,000 in rent on his bungalow just south of West Hollywood. After the actor found himself facing eviction, Kimberly Hines, who\u2019s been Rourke\u2019s manager for over a decade, and her assistant launched a\u00a0GoFundMe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite more than $90,000 being raised, Rourke shared an Instagram video on Jan. 5 stating that he was not involved with the fundraiser <\/a>and said, \u201cIf I needed money, I wouldn\u2019t ask for no fucking charity,\u201d adding, \u201cI\u2019d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger. So whoever did this, I don\u2019t know if they did it \u2014 why they did it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHines later told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that the GoFundMe was not a \u201cgrift\u201d and said that the actor was aware of who was behind the effort, while also acknowledging that it was possible Rourke didn\u2019t fully understand what a GoFundMe was when she presented the idea to him.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tThe manger also shared insight<\/a> into Rourke\u2019s housing situation and said a year-and-a-half ago the residence he had been staying at was purchased by Eric Goldie, who allegedly raised the rent from $5,200 to $7,000. Goldie later sued Rourke for unpaid rent, but Hines claimed that the house was \u201cuninhabitable,\u201d with \u201cblack mold\u201d and \u201cno running water.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGiven Rourke\u2019s denouncement of the GoFundMe, Hines told fans\u00a0that if Rourke didn\u2019t want the money, donors would be reimbursed. \u201cHe\u2019s calling me for money. He\u2019s calling friends for money,\u201d claimed Hines. \u201cA GoFund is set up for him, and now he\u2019s rejecting it? \u2018OK, Mick, no problem.\u2019 But nobody here has done anything wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a joint Instagram post<\/a> shared by Rourke and\u00a0World Boxing News<\/a> on Jan. 9, a statement announced that the debacle had been a \u201c$96,000 Misunderstanding\u201d and that \u201cDonations for Mickey Rourke\u2019s housing fundraiser have been officially paused.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn his own comment on the post, Rourke wrote, \u201cDon\u2019t give any money its all fake bullshit.\u201d<\/p>\n
