A 17-year-old boy has been identified as the passenger killed after a Fort Worth police chase<\/a> ended in a crash earlier this month. <\/p>\n

Jesus Gonzalez, 17, was pronounced dead Jan. 3 at the scene of the collision in the 1500 block of East 4th Street, according to online records from the Tarrant County medical examiner\u2019s office. <\/p>\n

The chase started about 2:40 a.m. on Jan. 3 when officers saw a vehicle driving the wrong way on Exchange Avenue, police officials said in a statement. <\/p>\n

Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but according to police, the driver failed to comply, made a U-turn and fled.<\/p>\n

Minutes later, another officer attempted a second traffic stop.<\/p>\n

The driver fled again, this time losing control and crashing into a utility pole near the 1500 block of East 4th Street, the statement said.<\/p>\n

Gonzalez was extracted from the vehicle, and after receiving medical aid from officers, was pronounced dead shortly after 3 a.m. <\/p>\n

The driver, who has not been publicly identified, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. <\/p>\n

No additional information about the incident was immediately available. <\/p>\n
