PHOENIX \u2014 Valley motorists will want to avoid downtown Phoenix during the overnight hours this weekend.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because both directions of Interstate 10 are scheduled to see closures due to planned cleaning and maintenance for the Deck Park Tunnel, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation\u2019s Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory for Jan. 9-12<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the department said a freeway-to-freeway ramp in north Phoenix is scheduled to close over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Plans are subject to change due to weather or other factors, the traffic authority added.<\/p>\n

When will I-10 be closed in downtown Phoenix this weekend?<\/p>\n

ADOT said the closures on I-10 in downtown Phoenix will take place overnight on both Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n

From 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday, the eastbound lanes of the freeway are scheduled to be closed between the Interstate 17 \u201cStack\u201d and State Route 51\/Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway \u201cMini-Stack\u201d interchanges.<\/p>\n

The following night, from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday, the westbound lanes of I-10 are scheduled to be closed from the I-17 \u201cSplit\u201d interchange near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Seventh Avenue.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, while the westbound lanes are closed, ADOT said the ramp from southbound SR 51 to westbound I-10 will be closed as well. The ramp from Loop 202 to westbound I-10 will remain open, but drivers will be required to exit I-10 at Seventh Street.<\/p>\n

During the closure of the eastbound lanes, motorists are advised to take southbound I-17 around downtown Phoenix and reconnect with I-10 at the \u201cSplit\u201d interchange.<\/p>\n

During the closure of the westbound lanes, ADOT suggested motorists take northbound I-17 at the \u201cSplit\u201d interchange and reconnect with I-10 at the \u201cStack\u201d interchange. Drivers in the East Valley could also use the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway, which reconnects with I-10 near 59th Avenue, to avoid the closure.<\/p>\n

Other weekend closures to note<\/p>\n

In north Phoenix, the ramp from the eastbound lanes of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway to the southbound lanes of SR 51 is scheduled to close from 5 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

This is due to the ongoing ramp widening project in that area.<\/p>\n

ADOT added that the on-ramp from southbound Black Mountain Boulevard to southbound SR 51 will be closed at this time as well.<\/p>\n

To avoid the closures, motorists can exit eastbound Loop 101 at Cave Creek Road or Tatum Boulevard, then use Union Hills Drive to access southbound SR 51.<\/p>\n

As for surface streets, several roads in downtown Tempe are scheduled to be closed<\/a> for the city\u2019s Second Sundays on Mill<\/a> market.<\/p>\n
