Sitting in second place in the Metro Division through 44 games, the NY Islanders are in a better position than most expected before the season began.<\/p>\n

Still, outside of their nine-goal night against the NJ Devils, the Islanders’ offense is still struggling to score on a nightly basis, leaving many to wonder if they\u2019ll look to add to the roster.<\/p>\n

With the roster freeze for the Olympics beginning on February 4 at 3:00, we can expect a handful of trades made across the NHL before that time.<\/p>\n

Jordan Kyrou needs to be on the Islanders’ radar<\/p>\n

Mathieu Darche has a plan<\/a> in place that he doesn\u2019t want to stray far from, but there are, of course, exceptions.<\/p>\n

Jordan Kyrou, playing for the struggling St. Louis Blues, could be a player on the move and would be the perfect addition for the Islanders, and Kyrou could be open to a move despite his no-trade clause.<\/p>\n

\u201cJordan Kyrou has a no-trade clause, but there\u2019s a sense he may be softening on waiving it to go to a contending club,\u201d Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet said. \u201cHe wants to have a chance to win, and it\u2019s about time to wonder if a fresh start may be best for all sides.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kyrou is having a down year for his standards, registering eight goals and nine assists through 35 games – not telling of the career he\u2019s had, potting 37, 31, and 36 goals over the last three seasons.<\/p>\n

Aside from being a perennial goal-scorer, Kyrou is a playmaker with speed to burn, and would complement Matthew Schaefer and Mat Barzal – two pretty decent skaters of their own.<\/p>\n

The Islanders certainly have the prospects and draft capital to make a deal work<\/a> for both sides, but how much would Darche be willing to offer?<\/p>\n

Kyrou, 27, has five years remaining in his current contract with an $8.125M AAV. With Pageau and Lee\u2019s contracts coming off the books at the end of this season, and plenty of immediate space available through LTIR, the Islanders could easily make the money work.<\/p>\n
