SAN ANTONIO – A local police officer was suspended after, investigators say, he fled the scene of a DWI crash, abandoning his SAPD jacket in the damaged vehicle.<\/p>\n
The incident leading to Officer Carrillo’s suspension occurred on June 11, 2025, when officers were dispatched to a minor accident at the intersection of Wurzbach Parkway and Blanco Road, according to the official suspension report. <\/p>\n
Multiple 911 callers reported a male driver, later identified as Officer Carrillo, had hit a median and a pole before abandoning his vehicle. <\/p>\n
Witnesses noted that the driver appeared intoxicated, with one stating he “does seem drunk” and “seemed like he couldn’t speak…he’s stumbling when he’s talking.”<\/p>\n
An inventory search of the abandoned vehicle revealed items belonging to a police officer, including an SAPD jacket with Carrillo’s name and badge number. <\/p>\n
The vehicle was registered to Officer Carrillo. Approximately an hour after the accident, Carrillo contacted a fellow off-duty officer for a ride home from nearby Hardberger Park, admitting to the accident and his intoxication.<\/p>\n
Upon reporting for duty that evening, Officer Carrillo completed an Officer’s Response to a Complaint, admitting to consuming alcohol and fleeing the accident scene. <\/p>\n
The suspension report says that the officer’s actions violated the department’s policies, including being intoxicated in public view and failing to report property damage caused by the accident.<\/p>\n
