The voice-activated AI chatbots will reduce pressure on drive-thru staff and speed up service times for waiting customers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SB3JUJ5NL5GHJK5G5FOD4E7ZO4\">The chain previously attempted to implement an AI program with IBM in 2021, but it fell through due to accuracy and reliability issues. <\/p>\n<p>Adding more drive-thru lanes<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7RQDSUF76JD7XBHMWXE7WO223Y\">With more than 27,000 drive-thru locations, the chain is enhancing its drive-thru layout, McDonald\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.mcdonalds.com\/corpmcd\/our-stories\/article\/mcd-announces-targets-development-loyalty-membership-cloud-tech.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/corporate.mcdonalds.com\/corpmcd\/our-stories\/article\/mcd-announces-targets-development-loyalty-membership-cloud-tech.html\">announced<\/a> back in 2023. This includes creating additional lanes to add more capacity leading to speedier service. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"IKI6ZS23RBEDXHQBBX5GSY7FW4\">McDonald\u2019s expects these projected upgrades to be completed by 2027. Many locations are already seeing multi-lane drive-thrus, according to Mashed.<\/p>\n<p>Expanding Ready on Arrival<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VDULX37ODVGC5FGDTEVUJADDTE\">To boost drive-thru speeds, McDonald\u2019s is expanding its Ready on Arrival program. The geofencing-powered system in the McDonald\u2019s mobile app that detects when the customer is nearby. When the customer is close, the system alerts the kitchen crew so they can assemble the order before the customer arrives at the restaurant. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"X4SQ7J3K2FEMPJFILEMZQIRFDA\">The program will grow key markets in the U.S., Japan and the U.K to ensure faster service for customers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"McDonald\u2019s is embracing AI to usher in a new era of efficiency in 2026.
