{"id":507764,"date":"2026-01-11T04:58:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T04:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/507764\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T04:58:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T04:58:11","slug":"phoenix-stores-must-follow-new-shopping-cart-ordinance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/507764\/","title":{"rendered":"Phoenix stores must follow new shopping cart ordinance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 Phoenix stores that provide shopping carts to their customers must complete an annual certification to comply with the city\u2019s new shopping cart ordinance.<\/p>\n<p>The new ordinance, which will go into effect on Thursday, is being implemented to reduce the number of abandoned shopping carts in neighborhoods, sidewalks and other public spaces, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoenix.gov\/newsroom\/neighborhood-services-news\/new-phoenix-shopping-cart-ordinance-requires-retailer-certificat.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Retailers must complete a certification that confirms the store\u2019s shopping carts follow these guidelines:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have locking wheel systems to properly manage and retrieve shopping carts.<\/li>\n<li>Implement a shopping cart management plan that prevents shopping carts from leaving the store, as well as a contract for cart retrieval services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stores must also provide additional details, including the number of carts they own, point of contact and billing information.<\/p>\n<p>If any store fails to comply by the Thursday deadline, those with a retrieval contract will be subject to a $25 fee for every cart returned by the city.
