{"id":507918,"date":"2026-01-11T06:30:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T06:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/507918\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T06:30:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T06:30:13","slug":"man-facing-murder-charge-in-connection-to-suspicious-death-in-saanichviimcu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/507918\/","title":{"rendered":"Man facing murder charge in connection to &#8216;suspicious death&#8217; in Saanich:VIIMCU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a suspicious death at a home in the Gordon Head neighbourhood of Saanich earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unite (VIIMCU) issued a statement in the ongoing investigation of the death that occurred inside a home in the 1600-block of Blair Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>A suspect was taken into custody on Monday and was released without charge on Tuesday, as it was early in the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Then on Thursday, Muhammed Ali Basar was arrested.  <\/p>\n<p>At 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Muhammed Ali Basar appeared in court in Victoria for a bail hearing, where he was denied bail, according to B.C. court records.<\/p>\n<p>Ali Basar faces a murder charge under the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/C-46\/section-235.html?wbdisable=true#:~:text=*%20235%20(1)%20Every%20one%20who%20commits,by%20this%20section%20is%20a%20minimum%20punishment.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Criminal Code 235 (1<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>His hearing took place in front of Judicial Justice Patrick Angly. <\/p>\n<p>Ali Basar\u2019s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 21.  <\/p>\n<p>He remains in custody. Nothing has been proven in court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the assistance of Victoria and Saanich Police Departments, Muhammed Basar was arrested and charged.
