The creatives were united in their feeling that spaces designed over the next 12 months will resist extravagance for the sake of it.<\/p>\n<p>Among the contributors was Smita Thomas, founder of Bengaluru studio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/multitude-of-sins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Multitude of Sins,<\/a> who predicted &#8220;a disciplined, intelligent restraint that borrows from maximalism&#8217;s warmth but strips its excess&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>To mark the anticipated shift from much of the decadence that characterised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/01\/24\/interior-design-trends-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interior design in 2025<\/a>, we have rounded up eight living spaces from around the world that are characterised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/minimalist-interior-design\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minimalism<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is the latest in our lookbooks series, which provides visual inspiration from Dezeen&#8217;s archive. Above: photo by Lorenzo Zandri<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/12\/22\/local-local-plaka-house-athens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Plaka House, Greece, by Local Local\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Emerging architecture studio Local Local renovated this neoclassical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/athens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Athens<\/a> home with &#8220;contemporary and playful finishes&#8221; as a wooden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/holiday-homes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">holiday home<\/a> on the Danish coast.<\/p>\n<p>Timber also features heavily in the interior, which includes an ocean-facing living room with wood panelling and smooth brick flooring.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We opted for integrating traditional materials in a contemporary way,&#8221;
