{"id":509092,"date":"2026-01-11T18:50:25","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T18:50:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/509092\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T18:50:25","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T18:50:25","slug":"fda-upgrades-nationwide-cheese-recall-to-highest-danger-level-after-listeria-causing-bacteria-found","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/509092\/","title":{"rendered":"FDA upgrades nationwide cheese recall to highest danger level after listeria-causing bacteria found"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The reclassification is tied to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause severe illness.<\/p>\n<p>WASHINGTON \u2014 A nationwide recall of multiple cheese products issued last year has been upgraded to the Food and Drug Administration\u2019s most serious risk category after testing confirmed the presence of a potentially deadly bacteria.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/ires\/?Event=98053\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The FDA said in an updated enforcement report released Jan. 6<\/a> that the recall has been reclassified as Class I, its highest level of concern.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A Class I recall means there is a \u201creasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, [the] product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,\u201d according to the agency.<\/p>\n<p>The reclassification is tied to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause severe illness, particularly among pregnant women, older adults, young children and people with weakened immune systems.
