So something has to be figured out as far as what the AI companies are responsible for, and what they can prevent\u201d MacIsaac told the Canadian Press.<\/p>\n<p>His planned Dec. 19 concert was cancelled by a First Nation north of Halifax after seeing the AI-generated summary.<\/p>\n<p>The inaccurate claims were cobbled together from online articles regarding a man in Canada with the same last name, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou are being put into a less secure situation because of a media company \u2014 that\u2019s what defamation is,\u201d MacIsaac said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a lawyer wants to take this on [for free], I would stand up because I\u2019m not the first and I\u2019m sure I won\u2019t be the last,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The incorrect summary, reportedly based off of someone with the same surname, resulted in a concert being canceled. PhotoGranary \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>MacIsaac, who burst onto the Canadian folk music scene as a teenager in the 1990s, blending traditional Celtic music with rock, has speculated over whether the false AI summary may have prompted an earlier concert cancellation in Mexico last year.<\/p>\n<p>The singer is no stranger to controversy, having previously bared his genitals to the studio audience during an appearance on \u201cLate Night with Conan O\u2019Brien\u201d in 1997.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAI Overviews frequently improve to show the most helpful information, and we invest significantly in the quality of responses,\u201d a Google spokesperson told The Post. \u201cWhen issues arise \u2013 like if our features misinterpret web content or miss some context \u2013 we use those examples to improve our systems, and may take action under our policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MacIsaac is now considering suing Google. Chief and council value your artistry, contribution to the cultural life of the Maritimes, and your commitment to reconciliation,\u201d the statement directed at MacIsaac read.<\/p>\n<p>MacIsaac said he hopes to reschedule the cancelled concert, but wants to wait until things settle down before agreeing a date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t feel comfortable about going there right now because I don\u2019t think the proper information can be disseminated within a week. It\u2019s seen so many shares.
