{"id":509957,"date":"2026-01-12T03:45:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T03:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/509957\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T03:45:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T03:45:09","slug":"nicklas-backstroms-northern-virginia-home-sells-for-11-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/509957\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicklas Backstrom\u2019s Northern Virginia home sells for $11 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nicklas Backstrom\u2019s<\/strong> remaining ties to the Washington DC area have ended with the sale of his home.<\/p>\n<p>Backstrom\u2019s Northern Virginia mansion was purchased by an undisclosed buyer for $11 million last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/2025\/04\/21\/nicklas-backstrom-puts-northern-virginia-home-on-market-capitals-contract-expire-summer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">after being put on the market last April<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonian.com\/2026\/01\/09\/nicklas-backstroms-mansion-sells-for-11-million\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to the Washingtonian<\/a>, Sherif Abdalla and Ali Alasgar Farhadov of Compass were the listing agents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a really notable sale, not only for the price point but for who\u2019s the seller,\u201d Abdalla <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DTWKIlLEq48\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of bittersweet because it ends this chapter of the Backstrom family being in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Backstrom bought the 16,000-square-foot residential property in 2021, just after it was constructed, for $8.5 million. The 7-bedroom, 12-bathroom home was initially listed for sale at $14.99 million. The price was lowered to $11.9 million in July.<\/p>\n<p>Among many other amenities, the home boasts a sauna and steam room, a movie theater, a bar, a full gym, an elevator, and six fireplaces. The 38-year-old centerman <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/2025\/07\/28\/nicklas-backstrom-contract-brynas-if-shl-resume-playing-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed a one-year contract with an option for a second year with Bryn\u00e4s IF<\/a>, his hometown team in the SHL, in late July.<\/p>\n<p>In 34 SHL games this season, the Capitals\u2019 all-time leader in assists has recorded 22 points (2g, 20a). Bryn\u00e4s has struggled to gain traction as a team, sitting 10th of 14 teams in the SHL standings with a 16-16-3 record.<\/p>\n<p>Backstrom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aftonbladet.se\/sportbladet\/a\/OrjjB3\/nicklas-backstrom-visar-upp-lyxhuset-i-wikegard-vs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">owns a luxury villa in his native G\u00e4vle, Sweden<\/a>, which he had built in 2010.
