Matthew Broderick<\/b><\/a> presented his wife of nearly 30 years, Sarah Jessica Parker<\/b><\/a>, with the Carol Burnett Award<\/b><\/a> for a life of achievement in television at Tuesday\u2019s Golden Eve, a ceremony that also added Helen Mirren<\/b><\/a> to the list of legends that have won the Cecil B. DeMille Award.<\/b><\/p>\n

Broderick suggested if she\u2019d listened to him, it might not have happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you really want to do TV?\u201d the actor recalled asking Parker when she was first presented with the script for her career-making role as Carrie Bradshaw<\/b> on \u201cSex and the City\u201d<\/b><\/a> in the 1990s. She would go on to win six Golden Globes<\/a> and two Emmys<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Accepting the award, Parker said, \u201cIt has been a privilege and a dream to call myself an actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Golden Eve is a new separate ceremony for the honorary career awards. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe DeMille Award was described to me as a career recognition,\u201d Mirren said from the stage. \u201cBut I prefer to think of it as a life lived, a life survived, a life enjoyed, a life sweated, and a life carried on, hopefully. And given that hope, I prefer to think of this as an ongoing reflection of my career rather than a eulogy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harrison Ford<\/b><\/a>, who won the DeMille Award in 2002, presented this year\u2019s edition to Mirren, his co-star in 1985\u2019s \u201cThe Mosquito Coast\u201d<\/b> and on the current \u201c1923.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

He called her \u201can undeniable screen presence who brings to every scene a powerful commitment to narrative and character. And when she goes full badass, it\u2019s awesome to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n
