The report said that Bowers did not include his first hit to William McNeil in his report.<\/li>\n<li>He was given a Written Reprimand and JSO\u2019s investigation is now complete. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">We\u2019ve been covering this story since the video went viral in July, several months after the February 2025 traffic stop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\"><b>[SIGN UP: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/membercenter.actionnewsjax.com\/newsletters\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter<\/b><\/a><b>] <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">McNeil was hit twice before his arrest. He has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/news\/local\/william-mcneil-jr-sues-city-sheriff-officers-excessive-force-during-february-arrest\/4J5PL34IEJAQBC7DBMIIAMMJNA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/news\/local\/william-mcneil-jr-sues-city-sheriff-officers-excessive-force-during-february-arrest\/4J5PL34IEJAQBC7DBMIIAMMJNA\/\"><b>filed a federal lawsuit<\/b><\/a> and is being represented by nationally known civil rights attorneys Benjamin Crump and Harry Daniels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">We have reached out to the attorneys for a comment on this latest development and received the following statement from Daniels:<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">\u201cThe JSO\u2019s internal investigation reflects JSO\u2019s biased view of the events that took place on the day of the incident. Mr. McNeil has initiated a federal lawsuit against the sheriff and others to ensure accountability for the brutal beating he endured.
