{"id":510611,"date":"2026-01-12T10:25:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T10:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/510611\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T10:25:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T10:25:08","slug":"philly-fashion-students-make-adaptive-fashion-for-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/510611\/","title":{"rendered":"Philly fashion students make adaptive fashion for patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                    A growing, multibillion-dollar market<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jefferson.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools-institutes\/kanbar-college-of-design-engineering-commerce\/school-of-design-engineering\/academic-programs\/fashion-design\/faculty\/kusy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carly Kusy<\/a>, the program director at Jefferson, said this class is part of their philosophy that \u201cfashion can\u2019t just be about designing pretty clothes anymore,\u201d that they hope to improve the industry.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that this is a required course for students in their senior year, and that this will prepare them for the job market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe adaptive wear market is huge and it\u2019s continuing to grow year after year exponentially,\u201d Kusy said.<\/p>\n<p>Well-known brands like<a href=\"https:\/\/www.anthropologie.com\/stories-adaptive-clothing-guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Anthropologie<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.target.com\/s\/adaptive+clothing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Target<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/usa.tommy.com\/en\/tommy-adaptive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Tommy Hilfiger<\/a> already make clothes that fit people with disabilities and chronic illnesses. That market<a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/global-adaptive-apparel-market-on-pace-to-hit-3499b\/549200\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> is worth billions of dollars<\/a>, and continues to grow.<\/p>\n<p>The fashion industry has not designed for these underserved populations in the past largely because of ignorance, said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jefferson.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools-institutes\/kanbar-college-of-design-engineering-commerce\/school-of-design-engineering\/academic-programs\/ms-fashion-design-technology\/faculty\/vinci.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Domenica Vinci<\/a>, assistant professor in fashion design, an instructor for the course and a longtime fashion designer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was an ignorance of thinking, \u2018Oh, someone in a wheelchair doesn\u2019t care to be fashionable.
