Remove items from your saved list<\/a> to add more.<\/p>\n Save this article for later<\/p>\n Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.<\/p>\n Got it<\/p>\n A bus fire in Southbank has closed a thoroughfare and sent acrid smoke wafting through Melbourne.<\/p>\n Video shows flames emanating from the bus on Power Street near the CityLink off-ramp, and an enormous plume of smoke blowing eastward over the city towards the Yarra.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Authorities closed the two inbound lanes of Power Street, north of Kavanagh Street, as a result.<\/p>\n Roselle Angel Guno was walking to her home about 7.30pm when she saw the smoke coming from the bus and firefighters on the scene.<\/p>\n \u201cAbout a minute later, it exploded,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cI ran so fast, so that just in time I was on the other side [of the road]. I just wanted to save myself.\u201d<\/p>\n Guno said she saw the driver get off the bus, and there didn\u2019t appear to be anyone else on board.<\/p>\n Fire Rescue Victoria said the diesel-fuelled bus had no passengers on it at the time, and no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n \u201cFirefighters are checking to ensure the fire hasn\u2019t spread to any nearby structures,\u201d a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n \u201cCrews arrived on scene within six minutes and were able to quickly get the incident under control.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Get alerts on breaking news as it happens.
