However, there seems to be more smoke about the Phillies doing so than the Yankees.

As a result, some have floated other ideas, and I don’t think they make sense.

That’s why I’m out on the idea of the Yankees getting involved with Alec Bohm if the Phillies end up signing Bichette.

The scenario was proposed by Stephen Parello of FanSided, who outlined how Bichette signing with Philadelphia could make the Phillies move Bohm. While I get what he means, the Yankees need to stay far away.

“If the Phillies end up signing Bichette, they’ll have their own logjam to sort out. It’s been reported that in the event they sign the former Blue Jay, they will then look to trade third baseman Alec Bohm. Bohm, 29, avoided arbitration by agreeing to a $10.2 million contract and is in his final year of team control… Bohm checks a lot of boxes for the Yankees. He’s right-handed, and while he was pretty bad defensively at third, he’s improved over the last two years, posting four outs above average in 2024, and taking a slight step back, recording -2 last season. Average-ish is the best way to describe him with the glove,” he wrote.

It’s tough to say that Bohm would be the worst player the Yankees could target, but he’s far from the best, too.

Bohm has improved defensively, but the Yankees showed that they value defensive versatility when they went out and made a trade for Ryan McMahon, so I don’t really understand why they would want a fielder who isn’t great.

Offensively, he’s fine, but again, it isn’t exactly like he’s a perfect player, and as we’ve seen over the past few years, he has some really bad swing and miss in his game, which doesn’t help anybody come October.

Perhaps the Yankees could cut ties with another expensive contract to make this work, but I still don’t think this really makes a ton of sense.

There are a few different ways to look at what the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies might…

[5132
11318,5229,40934,1448,2830,1311,2083,67,586,132,5230,68,2969,2386
post-510985","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-philadelphia","tag-alec-bohm","tag-america","tag-bo-bichette","tag-pa","tag-pennsylvania","tag-philadelphia","tag-philadelphia-phillies","tag-united-states","tag-united-states-of-america","tag-unitedstates","tag-unitedstatesofamerica","tag-us","tag-usa","tag-yankees
["GET
