Downtown One, Albania, MVRDV<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

A map of Albania will be outlined by the pixelated facade of Downtown One, a skyscraper formed of stacked blocks with large rectangular windows. At 140 metres, it will be the country’s tallest building.<\/p>\n

The project, originally scheduled for completion in 2024, was designed by MVRDV<\/a> in Tirana, where numerous unusual skyscrapers are currently being constructed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

China Merchants Bank Headquarters, China, by Foster + Partners<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

At 388 metres, China Merchants Bank Headquarters in Shenzhen will qualify as a supertall skyscraper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The building by Foster + Partners<\/a> has a distinctive geometric exterior formed with tessellated steel and glass panels that draw on traditional Chinese paper folding.<\/p>\n

Central Bank of Iraq, Iraq, by Zaha Hadid Architects<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Another banking headquarters on the list is this 170-metre-tall skyscraper, which Zaha Hadid Architects<\/a> is completing in Iraq<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Located on the banks of the Tigris in Baghdad, it will have a twisting exoskeleton raised on a large podium that spans an entire city block. According to the studio, its design is intended to “mimic the light reflecting from waves” of the adjacent river.<\/p>\n

\"Waterline<\/a><\/p>\n

Waterline, USA, by KPF<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the most significant skyscrapers set to open in the US<\/a> this year is Waterline.<\/p>\n

Designed by KPF<\/a>, the staggered tower rises to a height of 312 metres, making it the tallest building in the state of Texas and Austin’s first official supertall skyscraper.<\/p>\n

It is one of several landmark buildings KPF is completing this year, also including 520 Fifth Avenue<\/a> \u2013 a 304-metre supertall skyscraper in New York, close to the Chrysler Building.<\/p>\n

SkyTower at Pinnacle One Yonge, Canada, by Hariri Pontarini Architects<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Canada’s tallest building is also expected to reach completion this year. The 351-metre-tall building will have a slightly sloping facade with balconies on one side that emulate vents.<\/p>\n

Its architect, Hariri Pontarini Architects<\/a>, said its design “reflects light in different ways and results in a distinctive silhouette that shifts depending on the angle you view it from”.<\/p>\n

Atlassian Headquarters, Australia, by SHoP Architects and BVN<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

In Australia, SHoP Architects<\/a> and BVN<\/a> will complete Atlassian’s headquarters \u2013 the world’s tallest hybrid timber<\/a> building.<\/p>\n

At a height of 180 metres, the office building will have an internal timber structure surrounded by an envelope of steel and glass.<\/p>\n

It will take the title of tallest hybrid timber building from Ascent by Korb + Associates Architects<\/a> in the US, which is 86.6 metres high.<\/p>\n

\"Mercedes-Benz<\/a><\/p>\n

Mercedes-Benz Places, UAE, by Binghatti<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Located close to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai<\/a>, this supertall skyscraper by developer Binghatti will be car company Mercedes-Benz<\/a>‘s first branded residential property.<\/p>\n

It will peak at 341 metres, becoming one of the city’s tallest buildings, and feature facades imprinted with the Mercedes-Benz’s three-pointed-star logo across its sinuous form.<\/p>\n

\"Meganom<\/a><\/p>\n

262 Fifth Avenue, USA, by Meganom<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This skinny supertall skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan will have full-floor residences and an observation deck<\/a> at its 305-metre-high summit.<\/p>\n

It is being constructed on the site of two vacant structures, which have been demolished, and incorporates a 12-storey limestone building within its base.<\/p>\n

Tour F, Ivory Coast, by Pierre Fakhoury<\/strong><\/p>\n

Africa’s tallest tower is slated for completion in the Ivorian city of Abidjan in 2026.<\/p>\n

Designed by Lebanese-Ivorian architect Pierre Fakhoury for developer PFO Africa, the tower will have a chamfered exterior that reaches a height of 421 metres. It will be primarily occupied by offices<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sany Irootech Headquarters, China, by SOM<\/strong><\/p>\n

SOM<\/a> has several projects set to open in 2026, but one of the most interesting is this pair of skyscrapers in Guangzhou. The tallest of the two towers will reach 204 metres.<\/p>\n
