{"id":511474,"date":"2026-01-12T19:09:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T19:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/511474\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T19:09:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T19:09:13","slug":"von-der-leyen-slams-musks-ai-for-undressing-photos-of-women-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/511474\/","title":{"rendered":"Von der Leyen slams Musk\u2019s AI for undressing photos of women \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since the beginning of January, thousands of women and teenagers, including public figures, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/france-lawmaker-investigate-deepfakes-women-stripped-naked-grok-x\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/france-lawmaker-investigate-deepfakes-women-stripped-naked-grok-x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have reported<\/a> that their photos published on social media have been \u201cundressed\u201d and put in bikinis by Grok at the request of users.<\/p>\n<p>The deepfake tool has prompted investigations from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/grok-nude-test-europe-resolve-us-tech-elon-musk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">regulators<\/a>\u00a0across Europe, including in Brussels, Dublin, Paris and London.<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pro.politico.eu\/news\/210945\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ordered<\/a>\u00a0X on Thursday to retain &#8220;all internal documents and data relating to Grok&#8221; \u2014 an escalation of the ongoing investigation into X&#8217;s content moderation policies \u2014 after calling the nonconsensual, sexually explicit deepfakes \u201cillegal,\u201d \u201cappalling\u201d and \u201cdisgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response, X made its controversial AI image generation feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/elon-musk-x-grok-chatbot-limits-access-image-generator-women-bikini-deepfakes\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/elon-musk-x-grok-chatbot-limits-access-image-generator-women-bikini-deepfakes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">only available to users with paid subscriptions<\/a>. European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/grok-nude-test-europe-resolve-us-tech-elon-musk\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/grok-nude-test-europe-resolve-us-tech-elon-musk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that limiting the tool&#8217;s use to paying subscribers did not mean an end to the EU&#8217;s investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The scandal has emerged as a fresh test of the EU\u2019s resolve to rein in Musk and U.S. Big Tech firms.
