{"id":511528,"date":"2026-01-12T19:38:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T19:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/511528\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T19:38:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T19:38:14","slug":"fed-up-residents-demand-action-as-disgusting-pictures-of-overflowing-vinnies-charity-bin-emerge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/511528\/","title":{"rendered":"Fed-up residents demand action as disgusting pictures of overflowing Vinnies charity bin emerge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Alarming images of an overflowing charity bin outside a local school and church in Bayswater have surfaced, with fed-up residents now calling for the people involved to return and clean up the mess and dispose of the items.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">A sign on the front of the bin clearly states that leaving items outside the bin is considered \u201cillegal dumping\u201d with prosecuted offenders potentially receiving a penalty of up to $125,000 according to the Environmental Protection Act, 1936.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The resident sharing the images on a Facebook community page said whoever left the items outside the bin, situated on the site of St Columba\u2019s Church, to \u201cplease look at the area now\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cWhile your intentions may have been good, it has unfortunately resulted in significant mess.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cMost of the items are damaged and cannot be used.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2f51762c7c51344fe4f90aaee5e2091260c07c9b.jpg\" alt=\"Illegal dumping at the Vinnies bin at the carpark of St Columba\u2019s School and church.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\"\/>Camera IconIllegal dumping at the Vinnies bin at the carpark of St Columba\u2019s School and church. Credit: Facebook<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cPlease consider doing the right thing cleaning it up and disposing the items properly,\u201d the resident said in the post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Frustrated and concerned residents flooded the comments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cTheir intentions weren\u2019t good, they were to get rid of the trash for free,\u201d one person said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cThe clean up costs the charities time and money, it\u2019s disgusting that\u2019s why a lot of charities have had to remove these bins now, or only available at the store when manned, no consideration, a lot of scummy people drag stuff out to get stuff and leave it like that!\u201d Another commenter said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cSometimes it is other people dragging stuff out of the bin to see what they can take, I saw this happening at a donation bin in Kardinya just last Thursday,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201c. . . pigs are cleaner,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/8d72833a5d38935c1a7b9c6f8b5692116103c765-4x3-x0y630w1536h1152.jpg\" alt=\"An alarming amount of items and mess scattered around the bin.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\"\/>Camera IconAn alarming amount of items and mess scattered around the bin. Credit: Facebook<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Vinnies WA executive manager social enterprise Carl Prowse said it\u2019s Vinnies\u2019 responsibility to clean-up donation sites and ensure they are managed safely and appropriately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cThe clothing shown in the image provided has since been collected, the area cleaned this morning, and a refreshed donation bin has been arranged to replace the existing one at this site,\u201d Mr Prowse said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">He also confirmed they do not allocate additional or extraordinary resources specifically for these situations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cWe have a team of drivers who operate throughout the week, visiting donation bins across the metropolitan area based on demand and scheduled collections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cThe ongoing repair and maintenance of donation bins is part of our regular operations, however significant damage or major repairs may occasionally need to be outsourced,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Mr Prowse encourages people who wish to donate items to either return at a later time or go to their nearest Vinnies store, during opening hours, if the bin is full.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cLeaving items outside bins can result in clothing being damaged by weather or contamination, meaning it can no longer be reused or recycled,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Most donation bins are cleared once a week, with higher volume locations serviced twice weekly.
