{"id":511838,"date":"2026-01-12T22:57:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T22:57:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/511838\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T22:57:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T22:57:11","slug":"live-updates-minnesota-twin-cities-sue-to-stop-immigration-crackdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/511838\/","title":{"rendered":"Live updates: Minnesota, Twin Cities sue to stop immigration crackdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state of Minnesota and the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/minneapolis-renee-good-immigration-sweeps-6ae64be5a0d6a718b658a938fb56e567\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suing the federal government<\/a> to stop an enforcement surge by Immigration and Customs Enforcement following the <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/minnesota-immigration-enforcement-shooting-crackdown-surge-173e00fa7388054e98c3b5b9417c1e5a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fatal shooting<\/a> of a Minneapolis woman by an ICE officer.<\/p>\n<p>The state and cities filed a lawsuit in federal court on Monday, along with a request for a temporary restraining order to halt the enforcement action or limit the operation.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security says it\u2019s surging more than 2,000 immigration officers into Minnesota, and that it has made more than 2,000 arrests in the city since the push began last month. ICE has called the Minnesota surge its <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/immigration-enforcement-ice-noem-minnesota-somali-db661df6de1131a034da2bda4bb3d817\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">largest enforcement operation<\/a> ever.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit alleges that the operation violates federal law because it\u2019s arbitrary and capricious, since it says other states aren\u2019t seeing commensurate crackdowns.
